			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The American Association for Thoracic Surgery announces the Michael E. DeBakey Research Scholarship to provide an opportunity for research, training and experience for North American surgeons committed to pursuing an academic career in cardiothoracic surgery. The scholarship will be funded by the Graham Education and Research Foundation and administered by the Association.</p>
<p>The research program must be undertaken within the first three years after completion of an approved cardiothoracic residency. Applications for the scholarship must be submitted during the candidate&#8217;s first two years in an academic position. The duration of the scholarship is to be two years.</p>
<p>The yearly stipend shall be $80,000 paid to the host institution for support of salary, research supplies, travel and other legitimate academic expenses of the scholar. The stipend is to be used for direct salary support and related research expenses only; it cannot be used to support indirect institutional costs.</p>
<p>The application will consist of three components:</p>
<p>1. The candidate must submit a proposal for the research to be undertaken and a statement of career plans and how the research activity will relate to the candidate&#8217;s academic career.<br />
2. The Director of the laboratory in the institution at which the research will be performed shall submit an endorsement of the proposal and indicate the facilities and degree of support available for the candidate&#8217;s research.<br />
3. The Chairman of the candidate’s department shall submit his or her endorsement of the proposal and confirm the candidate’s academic appointment.</p>
<p>The Scholarship will begin July 1, 2011 and conclude on July 1, 2013. The scholar shall submit an interim and a final written report of his/her research activities to the Council of the Association.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Erasmus Mundus Masters Course in Astronomy and Astrophysics</p>
<p>Description : Applications are now accepted for AstroMundus, a 2-years international Master Course in Astronomy and Astrophysics offered by a partnership of 5 universities: University of Innsbruck (Austria), University of Padova and University of Rome “Tor Vergata” (Italy), University of Goettingen (Germany), and University of Belgrade (Serbia). The Master Course is funded by the European Commission within the Erasmus Mundus programme, 2nd Edition, Action 1.<br />
<span class="fullpost"><br />
Admitted students will conduct their studies in at least 2 and up to 4 of the partner Universities and, upon successful completion of their studies, they will be awarded a Joint Master Degree by all universities where they studied during the Master Course. The course is held in the English language, however students will have the possibility to learn the language of the host countries through courses offered by the host universities. Full details about the programme and the application procedure are given in the AstroMundus web site.<br />
Eligible students have a certified good knowledge of the English Language and hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, or Mathematics, or an equivalent amount of certified learning (3 years, 180 ECTS credits) in the same field(s). A number of Erasmus Mundus scholarships are available both for non-European and European students. The admission to the Master Course and assignment of scholarships are based on excellence.</span></p>
<p>Deadlines for applications are: December 31st 2009 for non-European students and April 30th 2010 for European students. The Master Course starts in September 2010.</p>

<p><strong>DARMASISWA is a scholarship program offered to all foreign students from countries which have diplomatic relationship with Indonesia to study Bahasa Indonesia, arts, music and crafts. Participants can choose one of 45 different universities located in different cities in Indonesia. This program is organized by the Ministry of National Education (MoNE) in cooperation with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).</p>
<p>The DARMASISWA program was started in 1974 as part of ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) initiative, admitting only students from ASEAN. However, in 1976 this program was extended to include students from other countries such as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, and USA. In early 90’s, this program was extended further to include all countries which have diplomatic relationship with Indonesia. Until now, the number of countries participating in this program is more than 75 countries.</p>
<p>The main purpose of the DARMASISWA program is to promote and increase the interest in the language and culture of Indonesia among the youth of other countries. It has also been designed to provide stronger cultural links and understanding among participating countries.</p>
<p>The interests of international students to participate in this program keep increasing year by year. In 2010, we offer to 750 students who would like to participate in this program as can be seen in the following table:</strong></p>

<li><strong><strong>Regular       1 (One) Year -Darmasiswa RI scholarship Program</strong><br />
Regular One Year program is a one-year scholarship program offered to foreign students from countries which have diplomatic relationship with Indonesia to study Indonesian language and Art (traditional music, traditional dance, and Indonesian craft) in selected Indonesian Higher Education Institutions. </strong></li>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<li><strong><strong>Regular       6 (Six) Months - Darmasiswa RI scholarship Program</strong><br />
Regular six-month program is a six-month scholarship program offered to foreign students from countries which have diplomatic relationship with Indonesia to study Indonesian language in selected Indonesian Higher Education Institutions. </strong></li>

<p>Monthly allowance will be received by participant is Rp 1.500.000,00 (one million and five hundred thousand rupiah), and will be transferred to the University/college where they study.</p>
<p>The participant is advised to bring enough money in US dollar for unexpected  additional expenses in Indonesia.</strong></p>

<p><strong>Qualifying Details</strong><br />
This studentship was founded by Sir Walter William Adrian MacGeough Bond in 1944 for the application in Northern Ireland of science to agriculture. It is tenable by graduates in agriculture, agricultural science, agricultural economics, science, economics or veterinary science of a UK university. The studentship is tenable for three years and the annual value will be such as is prescribed by the Board of Electors, plus half fees. In addition a sum not exceeding £150 per annum may be granted, on the authorisation of the supervisor, for expenses in travelling, the purchase of books, and other special disbursements in connection with the work.</p>

<li>This Studentship provides £10,000 to cover tuition fees (currently £3500 for UK/EU students; £8800 for others) and a contribution to maintenance costs. Candidates are also expected to apply, where feasible, for MA and then PhD funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council</li>
<li>It is available (dependent on eligibility) for 1 year only; successful applicants will be expected to find funding for the PhD from another source</li>

<p>The broad range of services Wood Group offers are provided on an integrated basis in line with customers’ requirements. There is continuing demand for outsourced and solutions-based services covering all, or part of, life-of-field operations and Wood Group has the project and risk management skills, the performance contracting experience and the specialist capabilities to meet our customers’ requirements. <h2>The Scholarship and Placement</h2>

<p>The Wood Group Scholarship offers £10,000 over four years along with paid summer placements and mentoring support.</p>

<p>Students who have accepted the offer of a place on one of the following courses at RGU will be eligible to apply for the scholarship:</p>

<p>We will accept one reference form if you are applying for more than one scholarship.</p>

<h2>Selection Criteria and Process</h2>
<p><a name="97999"></a></p>
<p>Applicants for the scholarship must have met the entry requirements of their UCAS offer from RGU, and have formally accepted the offer. Full details of the selection criteria are available within the form. All applicants to the scholarship will need to enrol on their chosen course at RGU during September 2009.</p>
<p>The selection process begins with students completing an application form which will be reviewed by a panel consisting of representatives from the University and Wood Group who will then shortlist a group of high academic performers. This group will be invited to attend an interview at Wood Group and the award winner will be selected from amongst this group of students.</p>
<p>Renewal of the award after each year is dependant on continued good academic performance.</p>
