Talisman Energy (UK) Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Talisman Energy Inc; a large, independent, oil and gas company, which is headquartered in Calgary, Canada.
In the UK, Talisman is the second largest oil operator and fourth largest gas operator in the North Sea, and provides extensive expertise in reservoir engineering and drilling technology. Talisman employs over 2100 people worldwide, with approximately 33% of Talisman’s production met by the North Sea area
The Talisman Postgraduate Scholarship
The Talisman Postgraduate scholar will qualify to receive funding of £10,000 over the one year programme.
Students who have accepted the offer of a full-time place on one of the following courses at RGU will be eligible to apply for the scholarship:
MSc in Oil & Gas Engineering
MSc in Petroleum Production Engineering
MSc in Drilling & Well Engineering

The closing date for applications is Friday 21st August 2009. All applications must be received by that date to be considered for the scholarship.

Selection Criteria
Applicants should have formally accepted the offer from RGU to study in one of the following programmes: MSc in Oil & Gas Engineering, Petroleum Production Engineering and Drilling & Well Engineering. Full details of the selection criteria are available with the application form. Applicants should enrol in the first year of their chosen degree programme in September 2009.
The selection process begins with students completing an application form which will be reviewed by a panel consisting of representatives from the University and Talisman who will then shortlist a group of high academic performers. This group will be invited to attend an interview at Talisman and the award winner will be selected from amongst this group of students.
Renewal of the award after each year is dependant on continued good academic and non-academic performance.
