SOC’s journalism program has a strong focus on public policy and investigative reporting. The nonpartisan, nonprofit Center for Public Integrity has won numerous honors for its investigative projects, including the George Polk Award, the PEN USA award and several IRE awards. The two organizations have had a close working relationship for several years, with SOC students conducting much of the research for The Buying of the President 2004, a book by SOC journalism professor and the Center’s founding director, Charles Lewis.
